Kylie Minogue - "Love At First Sight" 2002
Was she a great singer? No. Was she terrible? Of course not. But at the time, she was at the right pedestal.
Kylie Minogue's "Love At First Sight" is my Throwback Thursday music video of the week, and she was an interesting artist at the time. Because in today's world, I bet, she would be publicize a lot greater. Minogue would be so overrated in today's music because of her looks.
In 2002, music was still very big. There were still a lot of big names still around and Minogue was treated like she was suppose to be treated; they didn't make her win 'video of the year' or have her close an award show. She was kinda underground. She wasn't mainstream -- which's where she didn't belong.
But now, you see a lot of these sideshow musicians with no talent, be treated like their Whitney Houston, where they're not even Katy Perry. The people who push overrated artists like Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Lopez, know nothing about music. They have ZERO credibility to what's good or not for music. Those people who make these decisions, have ruined music.
That's why I miss the music from years back -- because real talent and 'okay' talent was where they suppose to be. Minogue was good singer, with a great song like "Love At First Sight", and was treated correctly. She wasn't seen everywhere or was on the same nominations as Mary J. Blige. Minogue was where she belong -- and I liked that. It's the way music suppose to be.
