Could Stoudemire to Philly bring a Pick & Kevin Love to NY?

Could this be to free up money or to acquire a pick, for Kevin Love?

ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, reported this morning that the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks are discussing a possible deal that would Amare Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert to Philly.

Besides the Knicks dumping Stoudemire's $23 million dollar contract, we still don't know what else the Knicks would receive in this deal. Could be a future 2nd round pick, but Shumpert is not worth a 2nd round pick -- he's worthy enough to bring back a first round pick.

If the Knicks do get back a first round pick, they can use that to get Kevin Love.

The one thing the Knicks would need is a 2015 draft, or '16 pick, to get Love. The only pick the Knicks have available is in 2018. I don't know if that would attract Love's current team, the Minnesota Timberwolves.

But if Knicks president Phil Jackson can get a first round pick for Shumpert and Stoudemire, there's a very good chance Jackson can find way to trade for Love.

One monkey wrench that'd be thrown into all this would be: Knicks would have to take Kevin Martin from Minnesota, since wouldn't have much to give up. Martin has three years left in his contract and making close to $21 million dollars. That, can, throw the Knicks 2015 plans out the window. Knicks probably won't be able to get that third player to play alongside with Anthony and Love.

Although with Love, Knicks probably won't have to get that third player.

Getting Love this offseason is important to Anthony, as well. Because that could keep Anthony with the Knicks for less, instead of the max. If Anthony knew Love is coming here, he'll take less -- for sure. He'll be taking less for a legit, star player.

If Jackson's plan is to go after Marc Gasol in 2015, that plan could be ruined if they have Anthony, Love and Martin playing on the same team. Martin, mostly, would screw up a possibility of Gasol coming here. Unless, they trade Martin after next season to clear up cap room. Or, if Gasol comes here for less than a max contract.

Jackson has expressed interested in Love. And Love has expressed interest in playing under Jackson's Knicks. There has also been a rumor that Jackson was "plotting" a deal for Love this offseason.

But first is first -- Knicks have to trade Stoudemire, before doing anything. And that can be hard to do.
